1. PITCH in over Twitter #LakeMacHack
We're asking our attendees, volunteers and anyone curious about the event to be active on the #LakeMacHack hashtag during the course of the event. A hashtag is a way of making content visible for a particular targeted event, either as a physical conference, or a virtual chat. This pattern is used to connect with people who share their interests across the globe - we want to harness that collective voice to help guide our teams. The nice thing is that you can participate either as a real name person, or you can create an account to mask or protect your identity, posting pseudonymously. That can be important when we're dealing with sensitive information. We'll be curating the feed with your entries over the weekend at https://storify.com/laughingmind/lakemachack
2. SELECT a topic of interest + engage with teams
Our competing teams will be forming on Friday night, after bold individuals set out an idea they want to work on and attract interested supporters to their team who will help them build it over the Saturday of our event. These teams and their focus will be announced during the event to give you an idea of the sort of things the teams are focussing on.
3. CONNECT over Secure Chat + Twitter 16-17Jun2017
Our teams will set up Digital Collaboration Platforms on Friday night from 930pm or Saturday morning from 8am to capture their teams Tasks, Code and Documentation: part of this will be secure Chat rooms, run on tools like HipChat to help include you as a participant in their team. The URLs for each secure chat room will be listed next to the Team List in a table on this page, along with things the team may need. Then, over the next day and a half, the team work together on solving a challenge that you all play a part in! It's a new format that we're trialling for Hackathons in Australia to help connect up a broader population from Regional, Rural and Remote areas of Australia - diverse teams tend to create better products. We know how important it is to be able to build solutions that reflect the needs of broad audiences, particularly those challenged by geography, distance or lack of services - please, make your voice count. It won't take much bandwidth to participate.
